I worked really hard on them for about the whole term practically and had heaps of help from my great art teacher. I really enjoyed this unit especially the sculpture because it was a bit more hands on literally. Well that's all I really have time for today so thanks for hangin out with me today and I'll see you next time.

Art Diary Part 1

What's up guys its wasabi here and today I'm going to brief you on what's been happening in my art class and the project I've been working on. I have to, as I mentioned in one of my previous posts, make a sculpture, a portrait in the style of Alberto Giacometti and also an interior in the style of Brett Whiteley. These must all be completed in the term along with many other class assignments and assessments I have been given from different classes. I find the subject very enjoyable because I get to express myself but also in the style of two different artists. I'm already halfway through the project because I've finished the portrait and am now starting on my sculpture. My sculpture will be in the style Giacometti along with the portrait and I have decided that I will position a man sitting on a stool like my portrait to have a connection between the two artworks. It will give them a meaning so I can have the subject matter of school but I can also give them a base to work on so I can express myself in the style of the one painter but in two unrecognizable ways that only I and a few certain other people can recognize. Well that's all I have time for so leave a comment and have a fantastic day.

Brett Whitley Excursion

What's up guys its wasabi here and today I'm gonna talk about my time at Brett Whiteley studio in Sydney. It was a clear day and we had to walk a bit to get to the studio from the train station but it was still worth it as we got to see the real home and studio of the artist Brett Whiteley. We got to look at pictures of him and his early life as an artist and his home as an adult. We got the feel as to what a real artists studio looks like and feels like because got to draw some of his original pictures using felt tip pens and afterwards with other materials. We had to make a collage of different pictures we drew together by using a large piece of paper and sticking on the pictures that we drew earlier and along with pictures that we drew on top of them. It was a great day to learn about Brett Whiteley and his style along with how he lived and how that had a large effect in influencing his work. Brett Whiteley had a painting called self portrait after three bottles of wine and he painted it on a scroll which shows that Brett was enthusiastic in the art of Japan because he also used ink to paint the picture of himself. Well that's all I've got time for so leave a comment and have a good day.

Alberto Giacommetti- Three Men Walking

Giacometti lived in the post war era and this might have given him his ideas or inspiration to paint and sculpture his work like he did. He was very dark and dead in his works and made the effects of all his figures to be hiding in the shadows or keeping to themselves. Three men walking is three men all walking separate ways and it symbolizes everyday life when we walk separate ways and have no concerns for other peoples decisions or opinions. Each figure is just a mere wist of the human form or entity and this is encorporating the use of modern day life and history like or example the ancient Egyptian burial figures or Greek korai. Giacometti had friends that were called the existentialists and they were people who questioned life or existence and as a result of Giacometti being friends with these particular people he also had to ponder on life and existence as well. This must also be the reason why he made his sculptures and works so dead like and dark and sort of menacing. Giacometti was keen on making the figures in three men walking sort of facing somewhat the same direction but not noticing each other because of modern day life how we all go somewhere in the same direction but take no heed as to notice each other. Well that's enough from me so leave a comment and have a great day.

The Art Studio

Hey what's up guys wasabi here. Today I'm going to talk about my feelings on the new art project handed to me recently. It was about the artists studio and my class and I have to make a sculpture, portrait and an interior all in the style of Alberto Giacometti and Brett Whiteley. These are both different and similar artists in many ways but they are both based around the same subjects. I find them interesting and mysterious at the same time because of their influencing style of art they possess. I feel happy that we are using their art styles but also feel that this is going to be hard because of the different subjects. Well that's all I have time for so don't forget to leave a comment. Cya.
